授業のねらい
The aim of this course is to allow students to apply their communication skills learned in year one in a more focused and deeper level on specific topics. It is hoped that the students will become familiar with the vocabulary and language relevant to issues of interest in the English-speaking world today, for use in cross-cultural communication situations. In addition, developing confidence to approach English resources on brand new topics is a meta-aim of the course.
This class allows students to challenge themselves to participate in ad-lib and directed discussion for the full length of every lesson.
履修者が到達すべき目標
The goal of this class is to look at various topics and study the language associated with each. First year communication classes are considered essential experience for this course. Oral communication activities - especially discussion - will be an important part of every lesson.

By the end of the course, each student should be able to speak fluently for up to three minutes on any one of the topics chosen in this course, in a conversation or discussion type situation. Although giving opinions and formal discussion strategies will be practiced, the most important goal is to find your own voice in English and practice expressing your own individual personality.
ディプロマ・ポリシーとの関係
This course relates to items (2), (4), (5), and (6) of the Department of English Language and Literature's diploma policy.
