This is a writing course for basic research and academic writing skills.

授業の進め方 学修上の助言
|
|
【授業の進め方】 In each class, students will improve their research and academic writing skills through 1) data collection activities, and 2) academic writing exercises. This class will be conducted in English.
【学習上の助言】 You will have a file to keep all your work; you will be responsible for it. Also, you will need to keep all your writing stored digitally (e.g., a USB stick, computer folder, cloud service, etc). It's your responsibility to keep your data safe and easy to access.

|
Classes involve individual work. Techniques that will be employed in this class include peer review, problem solving, reflections, and problems using authentic information. Students will analyse and evaluate information, and make informed judgements and decisions.

All resources will be available online (Moodle). Students will also use computers for research and class assignments.

I taught ESL (English as a second language) for students of various cultural and linguistic backgrounds in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2009/2010. I have worked as a content reviewer and copyeditor for academic journals and conferences.

Students should keep in mind the assignments' deadlines. Writing assignments should be handed in on time. Students may request extension deadlines under special circumstances.
