授業のねらい
Students will further develop their communicative competence in English and learn about using English for typical communicative purposes about a range of topics and in a range of situations. This class places emphasis on skills for oral communication. 
履修者が到達すべき目標
1. Raise your awareness of how to use English in simulated and real communicative situations.
2. Further study the use of English skills to support your oral communicative ability in English as a foreign language.
3. Develop a deeper understanding of communication, including linguistic and paralinguistic features.
4. Improve confidence to express yourself in English in authentic communication. 
授業の進め方
学修上の助言
【授業の進め方】 There are six units in this semester. You will use your existing and new knowledge in some communication activities during the course. You will prepare and present your main course project at the end of the course.
【学習上の助言】 You will need a file to keep all your materials; you will be responsible for keeping your file updated. You should bring your textbook every time. If you miss a class, you have to email the teacher and ask a classmate or the teacher for that class’ content. 
アクティブ・ラーニングの要素の有無
Classes involve individual work. Techniques that will be employed in this class include peer review, problem solving, reflections, and problems using authentic information. Students will analyse and evaluate information, and make informed judgements and decisions. 
ICTを活用した双方向型授業の有無
Students will use their computers and mobile devices to interact with the online class and resources and perform a variety of tasks, such as translation, taking pictures, making movies, and answering to online quizzes. All resources will be available online (Moodle). Students will also use computers for research and class assignments.

I lived, studied, and worked in Brazil and New Zealand before coming to Japan.
I worked using communicative language teaching with students of various cultural and linguistic backgrounds in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2009/2010.
I’m qualified as a teacher of English as a foreign language and as a teacher trainer, and have 10 years of experience in teaching using the communicative approach.
